I'm alive guys, yeah!!! So my 11 hours in KL didn't turn out that bad - cheap hotel room + chicken soup noodles for breakfast! X)
My plane landed at 2:30pm at Kathmandu and, surprisingly, I was able to get my visa and walk out the airport by 3pm. And guess what?! The first person I saw at the exit was Pastor John!!! He told me if I had walked out 5 minutes later that he would have been gone! Haha God is amazing, isn't He!?
It took us just under an hour to get to Pastor NP's church in Benapa. I was standing outside the church and saw some familiar faces. It was "weird" but good "weird". I can't believe I'm back!!!! It's hard to describe in words but, for sure, I am very happy to be back.
We were just in time to join the opening ceremony of the CA Camp. It started off with a powerful and energetic worship (as usual) and then we were welcomed with a traditional Nepali dance performance. The theme of the camp is taken from Philippians 3:14 - I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Pastor John was the speaker for the night and, not surprisingly, he was sharing about Isaiah 40:31 - We are called to become eagles but not chickens. Sadly in this world, we have way more chicken Christians then eagles.
Chickens - always look down at the floor, eat and become fat, and then get eaten.
Eagles - they always fly high in the sky and they, unlike other animals, will fly into a storm and use the turbulence to soar even higher.
He also called us to be light (Matt 5:14); to stand out from the darkness of the world. It is such a good time to share on that because it is Diwali (festival of light) now in Nepal. People here decorate their houses with colourful, flashy lights, and they set off fireworks to signify the victory of light over darkness, good over evil. I can only pray that they will receive the true light of Jesus.
Pastor John ended the sharing with a call to everyone in the hall to be resurrected and reborn from the old "chicken" life to the new "eagle" life. So many young people came out and said they are willing. God's spirit is working hard!! I can't wait to see what God has planned to do here for the coming days.
Prayer request:
- good health - it's getting cold here
- good rest - the camp starts at 7am -.-
- wisdom - I am leading morning devotion
p.s. Bandana's (Pastor NP's wife) cooking is still amazing!!!!
Love,
Jonny
