#belowtheline
Live Below the Line is an initiative of the Global Poverty Project, an education and campaigning organisation whose mission is to increase the number and effectiveness of people taking action against extreme poverty. Live Below the Line is an innovative campaign which challenges thousands of individuals across the world to live on £1 a day for 5 days, to deepen their understanding of the challenges faced by individuals living in extreme poverty, and to raise vital funds for crucial anti-poverty initiatives.
This awareness and fundraising campaign is taking off around the world - demonstrating that people are looking for a real way to engage with the issue of extreme poverty through something we can all do: eat and drink.
Live Below the Line is challenging individuals and communities to eat and drink on just £1 per day for 5 days, to bring to life the experience of the 1.2 billion people currently living in extreme poverty. Think about that figure - 1.2 BILLION ... that's nearly 20 times the population of the UK ... all living every day in extreme poverty.
In 2013, Bread & Life International ran it's first ever Live Below the Line campaign raising over an incredible £2500 in support of local community projects during our missional trips to Cambodia. This event proved to be an overwhelming success through both our volunteers who participated over multiple locations in the UK and Hong Kong and also the wonderful support we received from friends, family and colleagues as well!
Today, we STILL believe that this is a cause worth fighting for!
Join with us on LBTL, as we join with thousands of people across the world to help tackle and eradicate extreme poverty together.
If you had to survive on £1 a day - how would you spend it?
